Obituary

Martha Willingham (Mowbray) Hall, 99, a resident of Waynesboro, VA, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024.

She was born December 27, 1924 in Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late George Bernard Mowbray and Ruth Willingham (Ferguson) Mowbray.

During World War II, she was recruited by the State Department as a Code Girl.

Later, she would take her love for the piano and teach others for many years.

Martha was a former member of First Presbyterian Church in Waynesboro, and a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William "Bill" Hall, Jr.; and daughter, Jeanne Hall Cloud.

Surviving are her daughters, Kathleen "Kathy" Hall Stofan and husband Vince, Betsy Hall Curl and husband James; 8 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

A Celebration on Life for Martha will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. April Cranford.

In lieu of flowers, it is kindly asked that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Association, or to W.A.R.M.
