Marvin Henry Showalter, 82, husband of Meredith (Baker) Showalter and resident of Lyndhurst, Virginia, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2022 at his home.

He was born in Waynesboro, Virginia on March 4, 1940, a son of Perry and Elizabeth (Heatwole) Showalter.

He was a graduate of Eastern Mennonite College, working most of his life as a corporate pilot for companies such as Smith's Transfer, Roses, and Hog Slat, Inc. in North Carolina. He was a member of Gideons International for 50 years and a self-taught Luthier who enjoyed making and repairing violins and fiddles in his retirement.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 58 years, Florence Arlene (Hartzler) Showalter and his brother Richard H. Showalter.

Survivors include his wife, Meredith (Baker) Showalter of Lyndhurst; two children, Debbie Grove of Crimora, and Sheldon Showalter of Wellington, Florida; four grandchildren, Krystal Grove, Sydney Showalter, Logan Showalter, and Mason Showalter; brother, Millard Showalter; six sisters, Glenys Shank, Wilma Lee Anders, Ruth Showalter, Louise Longenecker, Goldie Huber, Doris Ranck.

The family will receive friends at McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro, VA on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 6 PM until 8 PM.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Bridge Christian Church, 1275 Goose Creek Rd., Fishersville, VA 22939, officiated by pastors Stacey Burkholder and Todd Brown.

Interment will be private for the family.
