Mary Elizabeth Hamilton DeHart, 88, passed to her heavenly home on November 4, 2021 in Amherst, Virginia.

She was born February 12, 1933 in Brooksville, Florida.

Mary was a long standing member of Hebron Baptist Church of Afton, Virginia. Her passions in life were her family, church, crafts, and gardening. She was a proud member of the D.A.R. through her descendent John Cottle Chew of Virginia.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Clarence Alonzo Hamilton, and Laura Olive Chew Ratcliffe, her loving husband James Emory DeHart Jr., and her only sibling, Alfred Alonzo Hamilton of Florida.

She is survived by her son Michael Allen DeHart (Sharon DeHart); her daughter, Leslie Ann DeHart (Debra Lynch); granddaughter, Alicia M. Goodhart (Matt Goodhart); great grandson, Garrett A. Lynch; three sisters-in-law, Virginia Ann Rorrer (Charles Rorrer), Georgia H. DeHart, Dorothy Hamilton and many nephews and nieces.

A family gathering will be held at McDow Funeral Home, Waynesboro, Virginia on November 11, 2021 between 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

A private Inurnment will be held at Hebron Baptist Church at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to St. Jude's Hospital.
