Mary Ann Dodd Hutchinson age 89 and widow of Rudy passed away peacefully into the hands of the lord at Augusta Health's Shenandoah Hospice House on June 16th, after a prolonged illness.
Mary Ann was born on August 23rd, 1935, in Beech Grove, Nelson County Va, to the late Rufus and Alice Falls Dodd Hailey.
In addition to her husband and parents she was proceeded in death by her sister Ruby Jane Ferrier, brother Paul Dodd, stepfather Lyle Hailey, and son in-law Tom Gray.
She is survived by her Daughter Teresa Gray, and Son Tim - Cindy, 5 Grand Children- Summer Piller-partner Jim, Amber Wagner-Mike, Tara Nicholson-Zac, Laura Beth Foster- Ian, and Chase Hutchinson- Lindsay. 11 Great Grand Children, Kendall Jones-Marshall, Carley and Avery Piller, Jackson Wagner, Chandler, Evan and Ryland Nicholson, Harrison and Lawson Foster, Caroline and Carter Hutchinson.
Sister Barbara Coffey and Brother Wayne Hailey In addition, she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, including Gail Cheatwood and Linda Major who always checked in with her. Special friends of her Thursday bible study group, her church family of Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren. Lifelong friend Mae Palmer along with her many friends and classmates of Wilson Memorial High School class of 1954 that would meet for lunches several times during the year, that she loved attending.
Mary Ann was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was devoted to the lord, and her church and was always in attendance until her health prevented her from going. She will always be remembered for her great cooking and baking skills that she always loved to prepare and share with others, and how she would always fret about her house being messy even when nothing was ever out of place.
Funeral services will be held Saturday June 21, 2025, at Blue Ridge Chapel, Church of The Brethren in Waynesboro with Pastors Mike Woods and Gary Major presiding. Visitation with the family will be held starting at 9:30 with the service beginning at 11:00. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Chase Hutchinson, Zac Nicholson, Ian Foster, Mike Wagner, Nephews Greg Ferrier, and Eddie Major.
Per Mary Ann's wishes in lieu of flowers make donations in her name to the Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren building fund, or to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in Verona so others less fortunate may receive food for the nourishment of their bodies.
The family would like to send a special thank you to the Shenandoah Hospice house medical staff for making Mary Ann comfortable during her last hours, and all the care takers over the last several months too numerous to name, that were involved with her treatment.
With Mary Ann's belief in Jesus, her death is not an end but the beginning of a new life, with no more tears, sorrow, or pain that she had to endure the last few months on this earth.
