Medrith Merrill Seymour Douglass, 90, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026.

Medrith was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alton Larry Douglass, and her son, Chris Douglass.

Born on May 30, 1936, in Little Rock, Arkansas, Medrith was the only child of Col. Frank and Frances Seymour. She spent her childhood in Little Rock, where she enjoyed a happy and adventurous upbringing. One of her fondest memories was accompanying her father as he entertained audiences with his magic shows. She loved helping with the performances and watching the joy and wonder they brought to others—memories she treasured and later shared with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

In 1955, Medrith married her high school sweetheart, Alton Larry Douglass. Together, they built a life filled with love, adventure, and family. As the wife of a military serviceman, Medrith embraced the challenges and opportunities of military life, creating a warm and loving home wherever their journey took them. She and Larry shared many wonderful memories, including years of square dancing together, a hobby that brought them joy and lasting friendships.

Medrith was especially proud of her growing family and found her greatest joy in the time she spent with them. She found happiness in life’s simple pleasures, especially tending her garden, watching flowers bloom, and seeing the beauty in each season. She was also proud of her years as a Girl Scout leader, where she shared her kindness, guidance, and love of community with young girls. She treasured her friendships with “the Crazy Ladys,” a group that brought her years of laughter, friendship, and unforgettable memories.

Medrith had a passion, one that she shared with Larry that led to many trips for family history and genealogy. They spent countless hours uncovering the stories and connections of those who came before them. She loved sharing these stories, along with memories of her childhood, her years as a military wife, and family adventures. Through her storytelling, she preserved traditions, strengthened family bonds, and passed down a legacy of love.

She is survived by her daughter Kitty Douglass Weatherly; her daughter-in-law, Renia Douglass; her grandchildren, Joe Reynolds (Ashlee), Adam Reynolds (Ainsley), Karyn Douglass and Lindsey Douglass, Mollie Weatherly Lafferty (Scottie) Emily Weatherly; and her great-grandchildren, Beckett, Bryce, and Bailey Lafferty, Vaughn and Eliza Reynolds, and Avi Reynolds. She is also survived by extended family members and many dear friends and her many cherished cats who will continue to cherish her memories and miss her greatly

A visitation for family and friends will be held at McDow Funeral Home on July 16, 2026 from 5-7pm.

A celebration of Medrith’s life will follow at McDow Funeral Home on Friday July 17, 2026 at 1pm. At a later date, she will be laid to rest with her dearest husband at Arlington National Cemetery, where they will be reunited after a lifetime of love and devotion.

To know Medrith was to know kindness, laughter, and unconditional love. Her family will forever see her in blooming flowers, hear her in the stories she shared, and carry her love with them always. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
