Obituary

Michael Landon Moles, II., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at the home of his parents, Mike and Gloria Moles.  Michael was born on January 22, 1989 in Charlottesville,, VA.  The first of five years of his life were spent growing up in Ruckersville, VA.  The family later moved to the Ladd area of Augusta County so that he could be educated in the Augusta County School System.

An avid lover of baseball and a devout New York Yankees fan, Michael developed skills that allowed him to pitch for the Stuarts Draft High School Cougars, the Eastern Mennonite University Royals, and the County League's Stuarts Draft Diamond Backs.  Michael was a man who had a strong faith in God and had Philippians 4:13 written on the underside of the bill of all his baseball caps: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me".

After graduating from EMU in 2011, Michael enjoyed much success in his career path, first as an Office Manager for Aerotek, then in positions of Talent Recruiting for S&P Global, and most recently Amazon's Cloud Division.

On October 17, 2020, he married Melanie Zobell.  In addition to his parents and Melanie, Michael is survived by his paternal grandmother, Nadine Moles; brother, Jeff; sister-in-law, Nicky; his precious niece, Evelyn ("Little Evie"); and precious nephew, Benjamin ("Benji").  Michael loved his niece and nephew dearly.  He also leaves behind his aunts, Marilyn Fitch and Linda Harding (Mike), as well as an uncle, Greg Gilbert (Tammy).  His first cousins include Robbie and Pembrooke Fitch, Elizabeth and Joe Tilley, and Elliott and Elaine Harding, and Kelli Gilbert.  In addition to family members, Michael leaves behind his precious Boston Terriers, Calli and Maeve, and a number of dear friends whom he loved and who loved him.

Michael was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elliott and Ruth Gilbert, paternal grandfather, Brad Moles, and special uncles, Bobby Gilbert, Glenn Gilbert, and Bob Fitch.

Active pallbearers will be Mike Moles, Jeff Moles, Robbie Fitch, Elliott Harding, Stewart Green, and Jeremy Fox.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, July 30, 2023 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro.  A celebration of life service will be conducted on Monday, July 31, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Waynesboro Free Methodist Church by Pastor Scott Brodd.  Michael will be laid to rest near his grandfather, Brad Moles, and uncle, Bob Fitch, at the Central Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Clifton Forge, VA.
