Myrna Ruth Harrell Truscott died November 7, 2021, at Summit Square in Waynesboro, Virginia. She was born August 29, 1941 to Arnita Baker Harrell and Clayton Harrell, Jr., and was their pride and joy. She grew up in Macclesfield, NC amidst many cousins, aunts, and uncles, with whom she played, and whom she loved dearly. She married Wayne Richard Truscott in 1974, and moved to Tarboro, NC, where she would live for more than 45 years.

Myrna loved all things dance, and spent many joyful hours on the Myrtle Beach Strand shagging with friends. She loved beach music, 50's tunes, and cried every time she heard Elvis, her heartthrob, sing "Old Shep." She told many stories about her life's adventures, and her favorites were about stranding her car on the Tarboro railroad tracks with a train approaching, and getting locked inside the Edgecombe County Memorial Library on a Friday evening.

Myrna was a faithful member of Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church in Tarboro, NC for more than 45 years. There she served as deacon, elder, Yokefellow, and self-appointed president of the choir. She cherished her moments singing in the choir, and loved her fellow choir members fiercely.

Myrna was, above all, a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother. She never missed an opportunity to attend a dance recital, choir concert, or band concert where her grandchildren were performing. And anyone who asked her to tell them about her grandchildren got what they asked for, and more - story after story of how she took great joy in them.

Preceding Myrna in death were her parents, Nita and Clayton Harrell, Jr., and her beloved husband, Wayne Truscott. She is survived by her daughters Karen Edwards of Staunton, Virginia, Lauren Truscott, of Tarboro, NC, and Kimberly Temple (Fleet) of Coates, NC. She was proudest of her grandchildren, Suzanne Stouffer (Chuck), Katherine McLean, Booker Temple, and Scotty Temple.

There will never be a way to fully express gratitude for the hearts and hands that cared so lovingly for Myrna at Summit Square. Thanks especially to Andrew Mihalek, Chris Heck, and Crystal 'Connor, whose wisdom and compassion guided her so gracefully.

A service of Witness to the Resurrection will take place on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 11:00 am at Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church in Tarboro, NC. The family will receive friends after the service in Burns Fellowship Hall.
