Obituary

Patricia Maupin Snyder passed away peacefully on October 15, 2026 with her daughter and sister by her side.

She was born on February 11, 1941 in Charlottesville, Virginia to Richard Lee Maupin and Vallie Rebecca Rhinehart. She was preceded in death by her husband, David Edward Snyder, her son Troy Richard Hagwood and daughter-in-law Cheryl Martin Hagwood.

First and foremost, “Patsy” was a true defender of her faith and lived it daily using it to lift up, teach and guide her family; selflessly helping each and every one of them at any given time. She loved her church family. Endlessly and joyfully participating and helping when and where she could. She taught Sunday School, worked with missions, helped with Vacation Bible schools but music was her gift, singing, playing the piano and directing music for different choir needs.

Patsy graduated from Waynesboro High School in 1959 and attended the Elizabeth Brandt School of Business, Staunton Virginia, graduating in June of 1960. Her working career spanned fifty-three years. She was employed by Dupont Community Credit Union when it operated out of a trailer placed behind the Dupont Recreation Center, also being one of the original employees to work in the first Dupont Credit Union Office built in Waynesboro. She worked for Chemtron Corporation in Huntington, West Va., Waynesboro City Auditors Office and Waynesboro District Home Finance Office. Patsy ended her working career retiring from Fishburn Military School in 2014.

Patsy is survived by her daughter; Jacquelyn Marshall (Jakki) of Waynesboro; sister, Loretta Harris and husband Ron “Poochie” Harris of Dalton, Ga. Grandchildren and great grandchildren; Corey Marshall and wife Shannon of Fishersville (Elly, Zachary); Lacey Marshall of Brandon, Fl; Dustin Hagwood with Noel Martin of Lyndhurst (McKenna, Ryen), Cheyenne Hagwood with Alston North of Waynesboro (precious great-great granddaughter Lakelynn). Niece’s, Angela Harris of Atlanta, Ga., Shana Masengill and husband Rob Masengill of Knoxville, Tn. Stepchildren Susan Shifflett of Stuarts Draft, Eddie Snyder of Verona (Shelley), Joe Snyder of Crimora (Kristy). She leaves behind special neighbors and friends, Ann Rosenberger, DeWayne and Angie Moore, Chris and Dawn Cox, Cindy Quesenbery, and Crissy Smith; special family members William and Sammie Hagwood, Robert Hagwood and her very close friend, Susan Coiner.

A funeral service will be held 10:00 am on Wednesday October the 28th at Shenandoah Heights Baptist Church in Waynesboro by Pastor Paul LaPrevotte. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial service will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro.

Active pallbearers will be Corey Marshall, Zachary Marshall, Dustin Hagwood, William Hagwood, Robert Hagwood, Jacob Dooley, DeWayne Moore and Chris Cox.

Special recognition and gratitude given to Dr. Cirenza and the caring staff at UVA Oncology in Fishersville; Dr. Heck and the dedicated and caring nurses of Augusta Health Hospice of the Shenandoah and Augusta Health Shenandoah Hospice House. To all those involved thank you for making her life joyous and her death peaceful. Memorial contributions can be made to the mentioned health care facilities or organization.
