Obituary

PATRICK "PETE" WADE MORRIS  11/16/1934 – 5/3/2025

He was the son of James Henry Morris Sr. and Agnes Jacqueline (Wolfe) Morris of Waynesboro VA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Edith Toms Morris, siblings; Ruth Hoy, Buck Morris, Charlene Clark, and his twin brother Paul Morris. As well as his beloved dog, Pigglett.

Survivors include his daughters, Sandy Cunningham (Tim), Sylvia Morris, and "son" Jim Thorne. Grandchildren; Amber May (Scott), Ashley Hallahan (Michael), Dakota Parr (Megan), and Wyatt Bartley (Haley). Great grandchildren; Ayden Sprouse, Patrick Riley Moore, Dawson Bartley, Daisy Rae Bartley and Raylan Parr.

Bonus grandchildren; Dylan May & family, Walker May, Noah Wales, Emma Hallahan, Thomas Hallahan, and Joey Hallahan.

Pete was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Korean War era. He retired from DuPont after 34years of service then drove a tractor trailer and a student bus for the Woodrow Wilson Workforce. He was a lifelong member of Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren. Pete loved baseball and was a fan of the Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals. He was a die-hard Washington Redskin fan and enjoyed watching UVA sports. He also enjoyed attending Bluegrass music festivals and horseback riding in his earlier years.

The family would like to extend gratitude to the VA Homebound Program, Rhonda Weinhold NP and nurse Wendy Wyant for years of compassionate, outstanding care.  The family would like to recognize Augusta Health Hospice and granddaughter, Haley Bartley for their roles in allowing Pete to be home for last part of his life to spend with his family.

Funeral service will be held at Blue Ridge Chapel Church of the Brethren, 19 Brown's Lane Waynesboro VA at 10:00 AM Friday, May 9th, 2025 with burial at Riverview Cemetery in Waynesboro to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Shenandoah Valley Animal Shelter, 1001 Mount Torrey Road Lyndhurst VA 22952.
