Paul Day Crissman, born May 16th 1935, in Buena Vista, VA, in the small community of Cornwall, to Horace and Cora Ball Crissman, passed on to his eternal home on January 10th 2025, with his wife of 69 years, Suellen Blessing Crissman, by his side.

He was the youngest child. Alan Crissman, Claude Crissman, Marie McCroy, James Crissman, Homer Crissman, Nancy Kennedy, and Alois Clapham are his older siblings that all proceeded him in death. He was also proceded in death by grandchildren Robert Paul Whitmore and Cora Lea Walker and great granddaughter Brielle Acker.

He is survived by his wife, Suellen, whom he married on July 15, 1955, and loved with his whole heart. Also surviving is sister in law, Vernell Crissman. He has children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren that survive him and they are as listed:

Children: Paula Coleman (Tony), Irving Crissman (Sheri), Robert Crissman (Reta), Pamela Marshall (Ricky), Penni Walker (Kelly) Grandchildren: Paul Acker III (Tonya), Scott Acker, Nicholas Crissman (Heather), Zachary Crissman (Carlee), Christopher Crissman (Amber), Benjamin Crissman, Adam Marshall (Michael), Chad Marshall (Sarah), Collin Marshall, Spencer Marshall, Chad Truslow (Stacy), Jacob Walker, and Lennon Rourke (Logan). Great grandchildren: Lucas, Camden, Tristan, Penelope, Hunter, Calla, Horizon, Brayden, Colton, Pyper, Jordan, Blake, Ryan, Melissa, Alex, Mason, and Declan.

He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as kids of friends and neighbors that he thought of and treated as his own.

He worked for 57 years as a truck driver accumulating at least 5,000,000 miles driven.

He was known by his CB handle, Pinball. If you asked him how he was he would tell you that he was a point shy of marvelous (pronounced, Maaaavalous) or he would say he was purdy, not pretty. If someone that he didn't know would call him Mr. Crissman, he would tell them, "Mr. Crissman died a long time ago. My name is Paul." He was no doubt one of a kind.

He was a fan of the Washington Redskins, Dale Earnhart, UVA college teams, and any school that his grandchildren attended.

After retiring he "worked", mowing for and with his son, Robbie. He loved mowing the cemetery at the church, and every time he mowed there, he would tell us which people that are laid to rest there he had conversed with.

He was a member of Forest Chapel Church of the Brethren. In his later years he began attending the Adult Sunday School Class and church services at Forest Chapel. He looked forward to it every week. Every year he made sure he participated in the cake walk at the fall bazaar. If he won, he would get one of Mom's cakes. He loved the fellowship and camaraderie of older and newer friends.

He lived the majority of his life in Crimora, Virginia, where when he wasn't working he was spending time with friends and family. He would ride around with friends, and earlier on, at least one grandchild, visiting or waving to people in the community. He loved sitting on the porch, watching traffic, and waving to people that blew their horn as they went past. He loved his friends and family unconditionally and always made sure that everyone had what they needed.

There will be a visitation at McDow Funeral Home, Thursday, January 16th, from 6 pm – 8 pm. Services will be Friday, with Pastor David Stewart officiating, starting with a graveside service at Augusta Memorial Park at 11 am, memorial service at Forest Chapel Church of the Brethren in Crimora at 1pm, with a meal following the service.
