Paul Robert Dana, 84, of Augusta County, Virginia, died peacefully on April 11, 2025 at Shenandoah House. Born on December 25, 1940, in Nevada, Iowa, Paul was the son of the late Robert Adams Dana and Martha Louise Dolecheck Dana. He graduated from Nevada High School and earned B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in Chemical Engineering from Iowa State University. He married Shirley Jean Schwietert, his college sweetheart, on November 27, 1965, at the Burt Methodist Church in Burt, Iowa.

During his career with DuPont, Paul and Shirley lived in Wilmington, Delaware and Camden, South Carolina before moving to Waynesboro, Virginia in 1988. Paul held various engineering positions at DuPont, including research, technical support, manufacturing and construction, retiring in 1998. He worked at the Experimental Station and Chambers Works in Organic Chemicals while in Wilmington, then worked at Camden and Waynesboro in Fibers.

Paul was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church and member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church in Fishersville. He served as Moderator of Shenandoah Presbytery in 2012 and was a Commissioner from Shenandoah Presbytery to PCUSA General Assembly in 2008. He was an active member of the Waynesboro Noon Rotary Club and freely gave his time and considerable talents to service there.

Paul was an accomplished amateur woodworker, enjoyed international travel, and treasured time with family and friends and in service to others. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; their children, Susanne Marie Dana (Brian) of Blacksburg, Virginia, and Matthew Paul Dana of Staunton, Virginia; grandchildren, Eliza Louise Dana, Evelyn Louise Dana, and Clark Matthew Dana; brother, Thomas Harry Dana of Portland, Oregon.

A Witness to the Resurrection and Celebration of Life Service will take place 11:00 am on May 28, 2025 at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church.
