Paul Goodloe
Ward, Jr.
d. Dec 17, 2025
Waynesboro
Paul Goodloe Ward, Jr., affectionately known as "PG," of Waynesboro, VA, passed away peacefully at his home on December 17th, surrounded by family and friends. Paul leaves behind a legacy defined by quiet strength, unwavering kindness, and deep devotion to those he loved.
Paul was an only child and was preceded in death by his father, Paul G. Ward, Sr., and his beloved mother, Marie P. Ward, whose passing marked a profound loss in his life.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kathie Ward, with whom he shared a life built on steady support, mutual respect, and deep affection. Paul was a devoted and caring father to his sons, Steven and Brent (Kathleen Kellett-Ward), whom he loved with pride and gentleness.
Paul was a deeply devoted grandfather who took great joy in his role as "Grandaddy." He was immensely proud of his grandchildren—Caroline and Emily (children of Steven), and MacIntyre and Korrigan (children of Brent). His love for them was evident in every smile, story, and quiet moment spent together. Spoiling them was his job, and he embraced it wholeheartedly.
Those who knew Paul knew him as a man of quiet character and steady presence. He did not seek attention, yet his strength was deeply felt by those around him. His kindness was genuine and unassuming, freely offered through listening, helping, and simply being there when it mattered most. Paul was a loyal and trusted friend, a supportive husband, and a loving father whose guidance came through example rather than words.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of Paul at McDow Funeral Home on Monday, December 22nd, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., where the family will receive visitors.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Tuesday, December 23rd, at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro, celebrated by Father Francis Musolooza. A luncheon and time of fellowship will follow at the Wayne Theatre, where loved ones may continue to share memories and celebrate Paul's life.
Paul will be remembered for his gentle spirit, his steadfast love for his family, and the quiet way he made the world around him better. His presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Building Fund, 301 Sheppard Ct., Waynesboro, VA 22980.
