Peggy Joan Bryant, 84, of Scottsville, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 29, 2025. She was born on September 18, 1940, in Montebello, VA, to the late Harold Dennis Allen and the late Are Vivian Allen. Peggy was preceded in death by her beloved parents and her three brothers,Butch Allen, Dale Allen, Ronnie Allen; and brother-in-law, Don Taylor.

Peggy is survived by her husband, Allen Bryant of Scottsville, VA; her three children, Mellisa Fretwell (Steve) of Crimora, VA, Donna Turner (Randy) of Greenville, VA, and Robert Jones (Kerri) of Milam, WV; her sister, Sue Taylor of Stuarts Draft, VA; her cherished grandchildren: Stephanie (Ian) Hensley, Ashley, and Steven Fretwell; Garland (Heather) Branch and Adrienne (Eric) Underwood; Kristen (Kevin) Jamerson,
Timothy (Ashley) Jones, Sierra (Jason), Shelby (Charles), and Tyler Jones; and 16 great-grandchildren who brought joy to her later years.

Peggy enjoyed a long and fulfilling career, working for many years at Comdial, Woolworth's, Sambo's, and Kroger. She was known for her warm heart, strong work ethic, and especially for her love of baking — her pound cakes and Hummingbird cakes were family favorites and a symbol of her hospitality and care.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at River Edge Rehab & Nursing, and her caregiver, Faye Harris.

Family Night will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro, VA. A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Calvary United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stuarts Draft, VA, with R.B. Morris ("Applepicker") officiating.

Pallbearers include Jerry Dale Allen, Bucky Allen, Billy Johnson, Garland Branch, Timothy Jones, and Tyler Jones.
