Peter led a fulfilling, meaningful life. Born to Scandinavian immigrants on Long Island, NY, he found it was important to give back to his country and answered his call to serve in the U.S. Army. Afterwards, he had a lifetime career with Northrup Grumman. Peter will be remembered for his genuine kindness and ever-present smile. His laugh was contagious and he never met a stranger.

Peter loved traveling and spending time with family. After retiring to Florida, he spent his time with friends and his beloved companion, Marilyn, and traveled to 5 continents before beginning his long, brave battle with Alzheimer's Disease. He continued to spend time with family and friends, relishing his time with grandchildren.

He is survived by his son and family, Paul, Amanda, Jacob Peter ("J.P.") and Lauren Anderson, all of Waynesboro, VA; and cherished partner and family, Marilyn Heberlien, Bill and Dee Keeton, Karly Davis, all of Atlanta, GA; and nephew Raymond Kelsey, and nieces Melissa Kelsey and Allison (Brett) Morong, all of Phoenix, AZ.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Brookdale Staunton (specially those who have risked their lives during the pandemic to provide loved ones with exceptional care), Hospice of the Shenandoah, local Veterans Affairs (VA)  nurses, and St. John's Epsicopal Church of Waynesboro.

In lieu of flowers, you may honor Peter with a donation to the Hospice of the Shenandoah.
