Reece Aloysius Taylor III, 72, died on March 5, 2025 in Fishersville, VA.  Born August 6, 1952 in Charlottesville, VA, son of the late Ruth W. and Reece A. Taylor, Jr., he is survived by his siblings, Christine E. Taylor of Stuarts Draft, VA, Kathleen T. Sooy (William) of Richmond, VA, and Douglas W. Taylor (Inga) of Waynesboro, VA; and nieces and nephews, Jacob R. Taylor (fiancé Christopher) of Staunton, VA, Eamon H. Taylor of Albuquerque, NM, Alexander H. Sooy (Abigail) of Bronxville, NY, W. Bennett Sooy (Chelsea) of Washington, DC, Julia M. T. Sooy (Nick Marmet) of New York, NY, Nell T. Beebe (William) of Waynesboro, VA, and Jane T. Hildebrand (Reid) of San Francisco, CA; grandnieces and grandnephews, Harper, Larkin, Wiley, Henry, Teddy, Briar, Isabelle, Richard, Astrid, and Lake..

Reece spent his entire life in Waynesboro, VA, graduating from Waynesboro High School in 1973 and working for Virginia National Bank as a courier.  He was a member of The Boy Scouts Troop 7 and Explorers, mentored so kindly by Larry Barringer.  He always enjoyed time in nature with lots of hiking and camping, and especially a trip to the Scouts' Philmont, NM ranch. He loved to fish, from the South River, to Virginia Beach, the NC Outer Banks, Maine, Alaska, and Canada. He was dedicated to his "best dog" Nibot, his favorite companion in the canoe and on mountain drives to his favorite spot St. Mary's Gorge.

Reece's mother was his guardian angel in life, and the entire family loved his sweet soul, stubborn Irish will, great singing voice, and many animated recountings of tall tales.  In the daily journals he kept he would sum up each year, writing in 1998: "pretty good year did some fishing in Florida caught some big Black Drum, did some fishing in Maine caught some striped Bass."

Funeral services will be private for the family in Riverview Cemetery, Waynesboro, VA.
