Richard Earl Hopkins, Jr., age 80, of Waynesboro, passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. Born February 17, 1943, he was the son of the late Richard E. Hopkins, Sr. of Utica, New York. In addition to his father, Richard was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Tyree, and an aunt, Shirley Hopkins.

Richard is survived by his wife, Teresa Hopkins; children, Julie Champagne, Bethany Wolfe and husband James Wolfe, Stacy Hurley and husband Steven Hurley, and Richard E. Hopkins, III.; brother, Brian Hopkins; grandchildren, Kaleigh Hopkins, Zachary Hopkins, Teresa Hartigan and husband Jonathan Hartigan, Steve Dube, Andrew Dube, Heather Broome and husband Jason Broome, Nicholas Wolfe, Shaye Wolfe, Jayme Wolfe, Avery Wolfe, and Robert Wolfe; great-grandchildren, Mason Hartigan, Levi Hartigan, Stevie Clough, Sawyer Clough, Maddi Broome, Jason Broome, Julianna Marston, and Paisley Hopkins.

Richard was an electrical engineer by trade and worked in the computer and printer industry in New York, New Hampshire, and Virginia. He was a faithful Roman Catholic. He devoted much of his time, talents, and energy on causes of the faith. He received numerous awards and accolades through The Knights of Columbus, including Grand Knight, 4 ^th Degree Knight and he was the District Deputy for District 021.

The family would like to extend their appreciation to the entire staff of the University of Virginia Cancer Center and Augusta Health.

A funeral mass will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 25, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Staunton, VA. Fr. Tom Collins will be officiating.
