Robert Eugene Hall, 95, a resident of English Meadows in Fishersville, Virginia, went home to be with the Lord on March 19, 2026.

He was born on October 6, 1930 in Kansas City, Kansas, the youngest of five children of the late James and Edith Hall. The family soon moved to Oklahoma, where Bob grew up. In 1948, Bob went to Colorado to work in the annual peach harvest, where he met his future wife, Peggy, who had come with her parents from Missouri. He and Peggy were married in 1950, and less than two years later, Bob was drafted into the United StatesMarine Corps. During the Korean War, he served stateside in San Diego, California, working as a motion picture projectionistin charge of all filmed training aids used by the Marines in the San Diego area. Bob worked at multiple movie theaters both before and after the war, most notably at the Dude Ranch Drive-In of Maryville, Missouri—where, between changing film reels, he entertained kids as the cowboy "Okie Bob."

Bob and Peggy were married for 68 years, making their home first in San Diego, where both were employed for many years at the San Diego Paper Box Company, and then moving to Stuarts Draft, Virginia, in 2000. They loved to travel, and over their decades together they visited all 50 states and several countries, including trips to the Grand Canyon, Alaska, Hawaii, Canada, and the British Isles. A devout Christian, Bob enjoyed studying the Bible and used slides from their tours of the Holy Land to give multimedia presentations to church groups and other gatherings.

Following Peggy's passing in 2019, Bob moved to Stuarts Draft Retirement Community, where he resided for 6 years. While there, he made many friends during bingo, music, and other activities and was known by residents as "Mr. Cookie Man," always ready to share treats and a smile. His positive outlook and gentle sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
