Obituary

Robert Daniel Hawke, 67, passed away on June 3, 2024.

He was preceded in death by his parents George and Eleanor Hawke, and beloved daughter Skylar Logan Hawke and will be joined in burial together. He was a loving father, a devoted friend, and a pillar for his local community.

Robert was born June 8,1956 in Trenton, NJ, and grew up in Levittown, PA. His hobbies included ice hockey and playing the drums. He attended high school at Bishop Kenrick and Upper Marion, completing his senior year at Waynesboro High School. After graduation, he joined the United States Army and was stationed at Fort Knox, KY where he worked predominantly in the mess hall as a cook and attained the rank of Specialist. He will be receiving a military burial for his service to Our Country.

Following his honorable discharge, he had a 40-year-long career as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service. A passionate member of his church, St. John's Catholic Church, he acted as a Sunday school teacher, usher, and assistant landscaper. In addition, he continued his passion for drumming throughout his life, passing it on to his son Trevor, and was part of two bands, Blitzkrieg and Jagged Edge.

Robert is survived by his son Trevor Alexander Hawke, daughter Rachel Marie Hawke, mother of his children Donna Marie Hawke; sisters, Eileen Eleanor Niksa and Martha Ann Hawke; nephew, Stephen Edward Niksa; grandchildren, Conner Edward Hawke, Brandon Lawrence Skillman, Rayanne Elizabeth Thurston, Devin Lee Thurston, Zachary Wesley Thurston; great granddaughter, Aubriella Noelle Skillman, and his precious dog Lucy.

A visitation will be held June 6, 2024 from 5:00pm - 7:00 pm at McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro, VA. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 7th @1pm at St John's the Evangelist Catholic Church in Waynesboro, Virginia with Father Francis officiating.  Interment will follow at Riverview cemetery in Waynesboro, Virginia with military honors by the U.S. Army.

Active pallbearers will be Trevor Hawke, Scott Via, Chris Richards, Josè Rodriguez, Greg Phillips, Bill Trice, Tony Tabor, and Robert "Bronson" Marshall.
