Ruth Ellen (Miller) Kennedy, 91, a resident of Afton, VA, passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 at her home.

She was born March 19, 1930 in Afton, VA, a daughter of the late John Scott Miller and Dolly (Phillips) Miller.

She was retired as a CNA after many years of faithful service with Wyndham Nursing Home in Crozet, VA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Ellwood Kennedy; grandson, Scott Kennedy; sister, Mildred Carwile; two daughters-in-law, Janice Kennedy and Martha Kennedy.

Surviving are her sons, Russell E. Kennedy, Terry Lee Kennedy, Kevin Kennedy, Tony S. Kennedy and his wife Dongyun Zhou; 11 grandchildren, Rek, Brandy, Michael, Terry, Caitlin, Jonathan, Adam, Megan, Connor, Chloe, and granddoggie T-Bone; 11 great-grandchildren, Rachael, Morgan, Bryant, Kennedy, Annaleise, Wyatt, Harley, Madison, Bailey, Camden, and Auden; brother, William Miller;  and sisters, Joyce Mejia and Jean Kennedy.

The family will receive friends from 6:00PM until 8:00 PM Thursday evening at McDow Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held Friday, February 4, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Hebron Baptist Church in Afton, officiated by Pastor Danny Thomas. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
