Sandra Faye Tisdale Shirley, 69, of Sherando, Virginia, passed away Friday morning, April 7, 2023 at Sentara RMH after a long battle with lung cancer and heart problems.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlene and Maynard Tisdale.  She leaves behind her husband of 49 years, Eddie Shirley. She is also survived by her son, Chad Shirley and his fiancé, Kyle Aubin; her son, Maynard Shirley and the late Aimee McCrary; grandchildren, Jaiden Shirley, Kaylie, Maarissa, Kallie, Lanie, and Zack; great-granddaughter, Alana; two sisters, Wanda Fralin and her husband Barry of Crimora and Carolyn Chaplin, wife of the late Pete Chaplin; brother Maynard "J.T" Tisdale and his wife Nancy of Crimora; a number of nieces and nephews; and her beloved pet and companion "Mac".

Sandy was a mother figure to all.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at McDow Funeral Home.  Pastor Doug Brooks will be officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.  Interment will immediately follow in Sherando United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Brandon Fralin of Crimora, James "Buck" Fitzgerald of Lovingston, Rodney White of Newport News, Joey Shirley of Richmond, Zack Shirley of Stuarts Draft, Kevin Martin of Crimora, Buddy Noe of Lyndhurst, and Dexter Estes of Lyndhurst.  Honorary pallbearers will be those attending the service.
