Shirley Mae Sheets Lafferty, 86, of Waynesboro, Virginia, went to be with the Lord June 20, 2022.
She was born October 5, 1935 in Augusta County, Virginia to the late Charles R. Sheets and Margaret Louise Pangle Sheets.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Louise Meeks, Mary Gregory, Jean Bibb, and Brenda Bartley; brothers, William Sheets and Charles 'June' Sheets, Jr.; Daughter In-law, Carol Morgal Lafferty.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 67 years, Ray Lafferty; two sons Gary Lafferty and Michael Lafferty; seven Grandchildren and nine Great
Grandchildren; one sister, Jackie Armstrong; one sister in-law, Jo Ann Sheets; a brother In-law, Richard Bibb; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
Shirley was a great cook, and loved to use her culinary skills to bless others. She served on the Waynesboro Weekday Religious Education Council and was a member of the Waynesboro Second Presbyterian Church. Shirley retired from General Electric and Genicom with over 30 years of service.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, June 23 at McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro.
A memorial service celebrating the life of Shirley will be held at 10 am on Friday June 24 at McDow Funeral Home in Waynesboro, followed by a brief graveside service at Augusta Memorial Park in Waynesboro. Rev. Caitilin Hoy will officiate.
