Obituary

Susie Tomlin Johnson, 95, formally of Fishersville, passed away Wednesday, May 4 th , 2022 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born March 20, 1927 in Amherst County to the late William Orman and Dora (Martin) Tomlin.

She was also preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Charlie W. Johnson; daughter, Gail Phillips; grandson, Corey Phillips; great granddaughter,  Annastine Bodkin; son-in-law, Tommy Rodgers; grandson-in-law, Mark Bodkin; as well as her two brothers, Gordon Tomlin and Marvin Tomlin; and her sisters, Essie Fitzgerald and Louise Campbell.

Surviving  is her daughter and devoted caregiver  Delores Rodgers; two grandchildren, Michelle Conley (Bob), and Angela Bodkin; 4 great grandchildren, Mitch Conley, Andrew Conley, Rhiannon Bodkin, Muireann Gheatera; one great- great  grandchild, Alice Hatch, sisters-in-law, Lucy Mays, Betty Tomlin, Grace Tomlin, and many loving nephews and nieces.

Susie was a long-time member of Fishersville Baptist  Church, she loved children and spent many years serving in the church nursery and beginners Sunday School.

She enjoyed working as a hostess for Mackie at ASR, and she retired from Western State Hospital as a CNA.

Susie enjoyed working with ceramics, decorating cakes, and creating flower arrangements.

Susie deeply loved her family, and her door was always open. Many family members enjoyed staying with her and Charlie over the years.

The family wishes to express their profound appreciation to Pastor Matthew At Lee and her Hospice Nurse, Angela Surratt, as well as friends and family members who helped care for her.

A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday May 9th, 2022 at McDow Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday May 10 th , 2022 at Fishersville Baptist Church officiated by Pastor Matthew  At Lee with Interment following the service at Augusta Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Shenandoah, Fishersville Baptist Church, or the charity of one's choice.
