Vernie Maddox Angus, 90, of Lyndhurst, passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023.

She was born in Lowesville, Virginia on December 11, 1932.

She was the daughter of the late John Sam and Emma Maddox.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Davis Angus on July 23, 2020. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton and Wayne, and four sisters, Iline (Selma), Barbara, Eleanor, and Shirley.

She is survived by one son, Alan Angus, and daughters Wanda Mays and husband Gene, Debbie Angus, Patricia McKinney and husband Rick, and Stephanie Quick. She is also survived by two grandchildren, Joshua Angus and wife Ashleigh and Affton Quick. Also surviving are two great grandchildren, Carson Angus and Adasyn Spears.

She is survived by one brother, Thomas Maddox and his wife Joyce of Amherst, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

She worked in the family business, Quality Cleaners, for decades until she retired in her 70s. She was a long-time member of Stuarts Draft Baptist Church and loved her church family.

Her passion was taking care of her family and watching the hummingbirds outside her window.

She will be greatly missed, but her family knows she has been promoted to Heaven and is with Jesus and all those that have passed.

A Graveside service will be conducted 11:00 AM Thursday, July 20, 2023 at Augusta Memorial Park officiated by Pastor Billy Coffey.
