Virginia Imogene Corcoran Thomas, age 97, passed away on November 22, 2022, at Summit Square in Waynesboro, Virginia. She resided at Summit Square from 2017 until her death.
Virginia was born on November 25, 1924, in Cordova, Alabama.
She was the oldest daughter of Jessie and Edgar Corcoran.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Truman Edward Thomas, her sisters Roma and Mary Lee, and her brother Larry.
Virginia will be greatly missed by her daughters Nancy Thomas Hawpe(Ed) of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Sally Thomas Miller of Chesterfield, Virginia, Jennifer Thomas Prichard(Tom) of Harrisonburg, Virginia, and her son Truman Edward Thomas, Junior of Waynesboro, Virginia.
Virginia is also survived by six grandchildren: Jennifer H. Leach (Jason) of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, Joseph C. Miller(Laura) of Richmond, Virginia, Joshua T. Miller(Leigh) of Midlothian, Virginia, Gina Miller Early(Mitch) of Chesterfield, Virginia, Jason W. Critzer of Fishersville, Virginia and Jessica W. Critzer(Teddy Campbell) of Fishersville, Virginia.
Other survivors include eleven great-grandchildren: Jocelyn and Jillian Leach, Madelyn, Sydney, and Jane Miller, Elias and Donovan Miller, Mason and Brody Early, Tucker Critzer, and Paige Critzer.
Virginia worked at Weaver Insurance until she retired at the age of eighty-nine in 2014.
Virginia was an active member of the Waynesboro First Baptist Church for many years serving as a Deacon and singing in the Chancel Choir. Virginia was an avid sports fan giving constant support to the New York Yankees, Virginia Cavaliers (Wah-Hoo-Wah!), and the Auburn Tigers(War Eagle!).
A celebration of a life well-lived will be held at the First Baptist Church in Waynesboro on December 11, 2022, at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends at a reception in the church immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in honor of Virginia to the Waynesboro First Baptist Church music ministry.
