Obituary

Wayne Douglas Fisher, 80, a lifetime resident of Augusta County, VA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, July 6, 2022, surrounded by love from his cherished family.

He was born April 4, 1942 in Augusta County, a son of the late Dennis William Fisher and Margaret Virginia Fisher.

He was retired from work as an Electrical Foreman for Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center in Fishersville. Wayne took pleasure in the little things of life, always cherishing many memories of his time spent with family and friends. His love for music was evident in sharing his talent with friends and loved ones, and preserving his family's music for their future generations. He had a big heart and would always help anyone in need.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Hawthorne Fisher, Franklin Fisher, Nellie Morris, Louise Huffman, Vastine Fisher, and Vida Reinmiller; mother-in-law, Ruby Elizabeth Truslow; and father-in-law, Edward Tinsley Truslow.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anne (Truslow) Fisher; 2 daughters, Dorcas Gale (Ricky), Remonia Fisher (David Allen and his son Jake); grandson, Cody Gale (Krista Gieseke-Smith); brother, Carl Fisher; sister, Alice Sensabaugh; his double first cousin, Edward R. Fisher; numerous nieces and nephews; special friend and coworker, John Williams; and his loving "grand-dogs" and "grand-cats".

The family will receive friends from 6 PM until 8 PM Thursday, July 7, 2022 at McDow Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, July 8, 2022 at 1 PM in the chapel of McDow Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Danny Fisher. Interment will follow in Glen Kirk Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ricky Gale, Cody Gale, David Allen, Todd Fisher, Michael Huffman, and Tony Reinmiller.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the ClearView Church Building Fund.

Wayne's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Christopher Heck and the staff of the Hospice of the Shenandoah for their wonderful care and compassion. Also, our family cannot thank HELP Health Equipment Loan Program enough for easing the burden of locating a special bed for him.
