WILLIAM RALPH DENNEY
William Ralph Denney, 91, passed away on Saturday July 8 2023 at the Shenandoah Hospice House. He was born November 15,1931 in Lebanon Tennessee. He was the son of the late Clarence Denney and the late Willie Marie Kitchings Denney of Old Hickory Tennessee. Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Cleo Tomlinson Denney, his son, William Clifton Denney and his sister, Barbara Denney Braswell.
Survivors include his son, Ronald W Denney (Kathryn), daughter, Joy Denney Sims (Vance), daughter - in -law Amy Craig Denney, and daughters of his heart, Carolyn Hall Howell (Lester) and Bobbie Jean Denney, along with 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
Immediately after his high school graduation, Ralph started ajob with DuPont in Old Hickory, TN and then served 2 year in the Army, stationed in Germany. Realizing t h e importance of education, he enrolled in Tennessee Tech and graduated with a degree inMechanical Engineering. His entire professional career was with DuPont Nemours Corp, beginning at the DuPont plant in Waynesboro in 1960 and ending with retirement, after being part of the team to build the DuPont plant in Singapore. His finalpost retirement position was ashort term contract with Dupont inChina. He was afounding and active member of the Waynesboro Church of Christ, serving as treasurer and an elder for many years. An active member of thecommunity, he focused on special needs organizations, including Vector Industries and CASA.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday July16 at 3 pm at the Waynesboro Church ofChrist 227 Bookerdale Road, Waynesboro VA, followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Ralph's name to the Waynesboro Church of Christ or to a charity of one's choice
