William John Hutton, 86, a resident of Waynesboro, VA, passed away Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Shenandoah House.

He was born January 23, 1935 in Staunton, VA, a son of the late Charles Thomas Hutton and Louise (Sims) Hutton.

He served his country faithfully with the U.S. Army military intelligence division from 1957 to 1959. Bill worked in many capacities over the years, including with the Virginia Highway Department, and as Assistant County Administrator for the county of Augusta. He was especially proud to work in construction management, including Southland Corporation and Triangle Services, LLC. He was a lifelong Methodist.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Lane Hutton; and sister, Violet (Hutton) Ralston.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara (Kilpatrick) Smith Hutton of Waynesboro; daughter, Valerie (Hutton) Lamb and husband Donnie of Rochelle, VA; brother, Charles T. Hutton of Sarasota, FL; 1 niece; 2 nephews; 2 great-nieces; 3 great-nephews; and 2 great-great-nieces.

The family will receive friends at 10:00 AM Wednesday July 28th at McDow Funeral Home until service time of 11:00 AM. Interment will be private for the family at Augusta Memorial Park.
